The Head of the Secretariat leads a small team that supports the Chief Surveillance Commissioner and his Office (the Surveillance Commissioners, Assistant Surveillance Commissioners, and Surveillance Inspectors).The Secretariat is responsible for the following:

  • Processing incoming requests for prior approval or notification of property interference and intrusive surveillance authorisations
  • Ensuring this documentation reaches the relevant Surveillance Commissioner promptly
  • Communicating the decisions of the Surveillance Commissioners to the public authority concerned
  • Providing administrative support to the Chief Surveillance Commissioner, Surveillance Commissioners and Assistant Surveillance Commissioners
  • Supporting the Chief Surveillance Inspector and the Surveillance Inspectors
  • Organising internal meetings of the Chief Surveillance Commissioner and his staff
  • Organising the follow-up visits to public authorities by the Surveillance Commissioners
  • Managing incoming requests from public authorities for help
